First fall semester at Carleton

The lab is officially entering its first fall semester at Carleton. We welcomed six students since May 2026:
Sofia will work on the umbrella species concept for Monarch butterflies, in partnership with Dr. Amanda Martin
Natalie will work on better understanding biodiversity in urban landscapes, in partnership with Dr. Rachel Buxton
Bianca, visiting from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil, is studying the effects of landscape structure changes on the blond titi monkey
Nel is focusing on phenology of butterflies with occupancy modeling
Serah is analyzing population trends for the Resident killer whales of the Pacific Northwest
Toni will investigate the biodiversity of the gut microbiome
It is very exciting to be back, and I am looking forward to the coming months. Winter is long and beautiful in Ottawa.
